Other Info:

After high school I attended Fresno State University attaining a B.S. in Finance. I saw many Cabrillo alums there such as Mary Bruce, Helen Stearns, Jan Paterson and Bob Tapia whom I ran with on the Fresno State University Track and Field team. Has anyone seen Jan Paterson since 1982 at FSU? I also saw others such as Julie Nunn, Craig Nunn, and Lisa Walter the lovely sister of Rodney Walter.

After FSU I worked at Security Pacific Bank in operations learning the banking business. I was bored to death in that type of environment. I tried to follow in my Dad's footsteps. In 1984 I entered the U.S. Air Force and got my M.A. in Business in 1986. Since 1988 I have been in transportation management as a fiscal analyst, budget analyst, operations manager and a controller. I work at Consolidated Freightways corporate office in Menlo Park, CA.

Still single, no kids, and coaching volleyball at Lynbrook HS in San Jose.My parents Kelly & Enid Brown still live at 4166 Sirius Ave in the Village so stop by and say hello.

It was nice to see everyone at the class reunion!

Hello everyone,

I was so sorry to have missed the reunion, all of you with kids know that an out of town soccer tourney has priority. At least according to my daughter. High school has such great memories for me, I won't miss the next chance. Las Vegas sounds good!

Anyway, I am currently living and working in the bay area. I work for the citizens of San Jose, protecting the thin blue line for the past 15 years. It has been and continues to be a fun ride. I graduated from Cal. State Hayward with a useless B.S. degree in Admin. of Justice. I plan on returning to prepare for a second career after retiring from my current occupation.

I am married to Elizabeth West (Wertz) Cardone. We have two wonderful children, our boy Casey is 11 going on 18 (can anybody tell me how that happens?), and our daughter Kristy is 9. They are both the greatest kids, guess they take after their mom! They both swim competively (imagine that) and soccer is big in our house. Casey also played h2o polo this summer, he's sold on it.

I on the other hand have just recently hung up my competitive polo suit, still play in pick up at the college but nothing organized. I keep fit and work off lifes STRESS by severe cross training and occasional doing a challenge type event. Recently I joined a couple of friends and did a swim across Lake Tahoe, very cold water, but fun.

I welcome and look forward to seeing and hearing from others, and of course if you are planning a trip to the bay area you are always welcome for a visit.

Spouse: Mary, married in 1990 (held out as long as I could gang!)

Children: 2 wonderful kids, J.W.(stepson) and Heather, ages 12 and 7 respectively.

Occupation: Aviation Consultant and Licensed Aircraft Dispatcher current working for a software firm developing aviation software and possibly forming a new airline.

Education: Majored in Meteorology and Physical Science at C.S.U Chico....which is a lie -- all I did was party my brains out.

Contacts: Well...until the 20th reunion haven't done a very good job of it but now I have made contact with my old track teammates Kelly Brown, Mike Miller, Bob Tapia, Doug Fraser, and Coach "Buck" Crosby. Also found out that many classmates live in my area. Hello Lisa Walters!

Hobbies: Backpacking, Camping, Computers, anything aviation related, spending time with the kids.

Other Info:

After leaving high school, I went to Allan Hancock for a year and a half I transferred to (ran screaming!) to Chico State University in Northern California. There I met up with old classmate and elementary school pal Kenny Clayton (where the hell are you?) and spent the most incredible 6 years of my life living life to its fullest.

While attending Chico State I began working part time for a small commuter airline to help earn money for tuition. It eventually worked into a full time position and I thereafter discovered my true love and addiction (continues to this day) -- AVIATION.

I slowly worked my way into flight operations and while still attending college, I studied and received my Airline Dispatchers License from the FAA. Basically it means you know everything about flying that an airline pilot knows about flying except you are his right hand man on the ground watching over the weather and such.

It is a very exciting profession as well as quite stressful at times since you normally are handling upwards of 30 aircraft at a time. Anyway, to make a long story short, I decided this was what I wanted to do and after accumulating almost 140 college units I blew it all off and dedicated my time to my new found career.

In 1985, my company transferred its headquarters from Chico to Fresno and I sadly left (went kicking and screaming) the greatest town in California. I continued working for Westair Airlines for 15 years and worked my way up to Director of Systems Control.

In 1990, I finally married and started a family with my wife Mary and her son J.W. and had a beautiful daughter Heather. We now live in Clovis, Ca and have settled down for now here next to the Sierras where I spend most of the summer hiking, fishing, and camping.

The reunion was a great time and it was great to see all those familiar faces. Greg Holt, hope to see you run up a winning season coaching your high school football team this year. Doug Fraser, hope to be driving one of your personally designed Volvos soon. Jeff Daniels, I guess I need to take up golf and play on one of your courses someday. Lisa Walters, I never want to visit you at work at your Cardiac Care Center! Just kidding. Take care all and keep in touch.

Donna Lenius was in a accident and passed away on Sunday 3/5/98. It was only a few months ago that she attended the reuinion and went to Las Vegas with a number of Cabrillo alumni friends. We will all miss her. Here is the entry she provided in September 1997:

----------------

After High School went to Fresno State for a coupla years then finished up Degree in NYC at the Fashion Institute. Came to Ca. to work for 6 months before setting my sails for Alaska to cut up fish and live in a tent with Curt Rogers and Jeff Daniels. They never did build those shelves in that tent like I asked them!!

After that 6 months of temporary insanity came home and went to work again Running Retail outlets until several years ago Became a Personal Shopper at MACY'S FRESNO. I shopped by Appointment for people who didn't have the time or desire. Funnest and most exciting job in the world until they started paging me at 7:00 in the am for a run in their nylons and it was extremely difficult keeping up with who was the wife, and who was the girlfriend! Quit that job only last January to stay home and raise my adorable, darling children, who are Lacey, 8 and Jesse, 10. Have spent the entire summer, 24-7 with the little darlings, and they have become a tad less charming than when this whole brain storm hit me, but they are going back tomorrow and I am anxiously awaiting. Hey !!!Anybody Wanda do lunch?

My husband of 13 years and I own a gas/service/mini mart Station here in Fresno, and though we have struggled with MANY MANY obstacles in the past, of owning and operating your own 24 hour business, we seem to be doing fine now, knock on wood. When the kids return to school, I will work there a little more and I am really dreading that! Just cant picture it, "Can I fill it up for you miss? Check under the hood?", "Must be your alternator!" Oh well, Ill try anything once, just so my uniform is Designer!!! With my name on the pocket!!!

Brother Chris is fine and still in Colorado

Sister Suzie and Hubby Dennis are raising their teenagers in Wa D.C. now, he heading up some Federal Prison thang!

Would love to hear from all of you!!! That reunion was too much fun! We are gonna work out a trip to Vegas here soon!!

I came up to the SF Bay Area to go to U.C. Berkeley. Got a degree in Computer Science, but found in my last year at CAL that I really loved Electrical Engineering, so I stayed an extra year to take all of the EE classes. I stayed in the Bay Area because it is a great place to live and work. There are too many things to do! The weather is great (I must admit that the constant Lompoc wind used to drive me nuts- may explain alot!).

I moved to San Mateo after graduating and began work at SRI International (Stanford Research Institute) as a Research Engineer. Ended up working on interesting projects in Image Recognition (Software), Optical Memory Systems, Laser Printers, IC design, RF security systems, Ultrasound Imaging and a bunch of other stuff. When I first moved to San Mateo I shared a house with a woman who has become one of my best friends. After about 6 months there I decided that I should buy a house. I found a REAL "fixer-upper" in Menlo Park and bought it. It wasn't long before I decided that I wanted to "add on", so I designed a 1400 sq ft addition. My dad drew up the final plans. A few years before this he designed and built his own house in Mesa Oaks, so he already knew a lot of the construction details. He came up every few weeks during the 2 year long construction to help build the place. He and I did everything except work the backhoe for the footings! My mom came up about 1/2 the time to help too. They always have been incredibly supportive.

After 5 years at SRI I was tired of just R&D, and I wanted to be part of a REAL company that had all of the business components. I was tired of seeing my ideas taken over and brought to market by someone else. I gave 3 months notice and quit. Decided to really throw thing up in the air and sold the house at that time too. Spent 3 weeks in Hawaii with my girlfriend and had a great time. Came back and landed a job at a medical electronics company. Bought a house in Mountain View. Spent a year designing a new product for Urine Flow Analysis (yes, a real "glamour product"). The company liquidated itself by selling out to US Surgical, so I was out of a job again. Found a startup that was doing Ophthalmic Laser Surgical Equipment. Spent 6 months there managing the development until it became clear something less than above board was going on with the principals.

Today I still live in the SF Bay area and work as an executive at a software/electronics company (Curtis Instruments). The primary things I do at Curtis are: new business development, customer development and support, marketing, and management of the R&D Department. I travel for work in the US and Europe, and enjoy this immensely. The job has been a great one up until the last couple years when it became clear that there were no real growth opportunities left for me. Today I am looking around for another "job".

I designed and built my second house (in Castro Valley). This time I did "only" most of the construction. I hired out the stucco and drywall (learned from the last house that there are a few things that are a REAL pain in the ass!). My dad did the electrical wiring. This was a much bigger project and took about 3 years to get mostly done. Still lots of detail stuff to finish- including the landscaping!

My dad passed away suddenly in 1995. It was a real blow. He and I spent a lot of time building the two houses and over the years we had become very close. We spent a week every year fishing in the Trinity area of Northern CA. I feel lucky that we had such a good relationship, but I really miss him. My mom still lives in the house they built in Mesa Oaks. I got her on the Internet, which she enjoys a lot! My sister is married and lives in San Diego. She has 2 sons, one is married.

I am single (never married). I have no children, but many friends do so I get to play alot. I snow ski, hike and camp, travel (for fun!), do carpentry, and spend too much time doing web pages and other internet play.

The 20th reunion was thoroughly enjoyable, and seeing and talking with everyone was great! Thanks again to those who worked so hard on it! I'm looking forward to getting together the people I reconnected with! 25th?

After Cabrillo, I attended LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas, majoring in Missions with an Aviation option. I had the intention of becoming a missionary pilot. After a while of bad grades (due to lack of study habits) and getting sick of school, I decided that if I was to be a missionary that I didn't need a degree in missions to do it, so I dropped the missions part and just majored in Aviation Technology. During this time I got my pilots license and discovered that flying didn't excite me like I thought it would. I got my FAA mechanics licenses through college, and got out looking for a job. I ended up in Orange County working on police helicopters. I became the Director of Maintenance for the the Costa Mesa Police and the Orange County Sheriff's departments. Through this time I got married and had three children. With our third child we found Orange County to be too expensive so we moved to Riverside. I have since started working for the Riverside Police Department on their helicopters.

My family and I attend the Olive Branch Community Church, in Corona. I run the sound department (while working nights in Costa Mesa, I attended Golden West College in Huntington Beach and went through the recording arts program of their commercial music department) and play drums in the worship band occasionally, and lead various small groups as they come and go. My wife is the Children's Ministries director.

I have a son, Andy who is 11, two daughters, Alyssa and Sarah, who are 9 and 7.
